What is "Login Via Magic URL"?
A magic link lets you sign in without typing a password. You enter your email address, we send you a special one-time link, and clicking it signs you in. On the login page, this option is labeled Login Via Magic URL.
Why magic links are useful
- Nothing to remember. No password to forget, and no reset emails to wait for.
- Simple. Enter your email, open the message, and click.
- Secure. Each link works only once and expires after 10 minutes. A link that has been used, or is too old, won't sign anyone in.
How to use it
- On the login page, select Login Via Magic URL.
- Enter your email address and select Continue.
- Open the email we send you. It usually arrives within a minute or two.
- Click the link in the email. You'll be signed in and taken to your account.
For best results, open the link on the same device you're signing in on.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a password to use a magic link?
No. You only need access to the email address on your account.
How long does the link last?
Ten minutes. If it expires, just request a new one.
Can I use the same link twice?
No. Each link works only once. If you need to sign in again, request a new link.
I didn't get the email. What should I do?
Wait a minute or two, then check your spam or junk folder. Make sure you entered the email address you used to create your account. If it still doesn't arrive, request a new link. Repeated requests in a short time may be limited, so give it a moment between tries.
Why does the page say a link was sent even if I typed the wrong email?
For privacy and security, the page shows the same message whether or not an account exists for that address. This prevents strangers from using the form to find out who has an account. If you don't receive an email, double-check the address you entered.
Is it safe?
Yes. Links are single-use, expire quickly, and can only be sent to the email address on the account. The main thing to protect is your email account, since anyone who can open your email could use a link. Use a strong password on your email and don't forward the sign-in message to anyone.
What if someone else sees the email?
Don't share or forward it. If you didn't request a sign-in link, you can ignore the email and it will expire on its own within 10 minutes.
Will I still have to complete an extra verification step?
It depends on your account's security settings. If you also set up a passkey for your account, you'll still be asked for it after clicking the magic link. If you have not set up a passkey for your account, you should be logged in immediately after clicking the magic link.
Should I use a magic link or a passkey?
Either works. Passkeys are usually faster because they use your fingerprint, face, or device PIN. Magic links work on any device with access to your email. See What is a passkey? for more information.
